Health essay outline

Im a size 0! Yay?

Abstract: In my essay I will be going over different types of eating disorders. I will be talking about the causes and effects of this illness, how to prevent it and why its very dangerous and even deadly.

Narrative Paper: The reason I chose this topic is because, being a teen I often hear my friends and even my thoughts saying "I want to lose 10 pounds", "I can't eat that, I'm on a diet", I am aware that this is wrong but I think we all do it without being concious of the risks we take by skipping meals and eating little quantities. I want to learn about the healthy and the correct ways to stay fit.

I. Thesis: You've probably heard of anorexia or bulemia right? Of course you think "Wow, how can someone starve themselves, to the point where their bones stick out", well this is a bigger issue than you think! More than 8,000,000 people in the United States suffer from eating disorders.

II. What is an Eating disorder?
            A. Obsession over weight
            B. Different types of eating disorders

III. Who suffer from eating disorders/ when does it start?
           C. Male/Female
           D. Different age groups

IV. What causes eating disorders?
          F. Peer pressure
          G. Media

V. What are the consequences of eating disorders/ how can it be prevented?
         H. Different effects/ Death
         I. Concentrate on eating healthy, NOT being skinny

VI. Conclusion - Restatement of thesis
People need to be aware of the dangers of eating disorders and how easily one can fall in to the trap.

Annotated Bibliography: Entry #1

Becker, Anne E. "Eating Disorder" World book online Info finder. World book, 2010. Web. 18 Oct, 2010.

The topic I chose for my research paper is Eating Disorders. This topic seemed very interesting because it's effects are very severe and most people aren't aware of this. TV shows, movies, advertisements, and magazines all have 1 thing in common: they promote being a size 0, maybe not directly by what they're saying but surely by what they show like their actresses and models.

I'm intrigued by this topic and I want to understand its consequences throughly so I can be able warn people about several serious medical complications including osteoporosis and irregular heartbeat.

Research is easy!... right?

According to the Merriam-Webster online dictionary, the definition of research is a "studious inquiry or examination; especially : investigation or experimentation aimed at the discovery and interpretation of facts, revision of accepted theories or laws in the light of new facts, or practical application of such new or revised theories or laws." blah blah blah pretty detailed right? No. Mr. Webster forgot to add that researching can be the biggest pain in the butt if you don't mentally prepare yourself. On Friday Natalia and I were put in a group to complete a competition in Humanities. The task was to finish researching four sections of a paper Ms. Angie had given us. The winning team would receive a sugar cookie but not just any sugar cookie- a Halloween themed cookie. Natalia and I started out pretty confident I mean all we had to do was research, how hard could it be?  Two minutes into the competition we realized it can be VERY hard. We got stuck on number two of section one and as we were researching the answer every minute was flying by us. In the final 10 minutes of class we got the answer to our question and the worst part of all was that the answer was right in front of our faces the whole time! It wasn't easy ill tell you that much, but it wasn't hard. Natalia and I came to the conclusion that researching is time consuming that that's what makes it hard. We know that with the 10-15 page essay coming up its definitely going to be tough on us but with a little resilience, there's no reason why we cant complete a great assignment.

Idyllwild Hiking

This Monday, October 11th my class went hiking to Idyllwild. It was a 3 hour drive down there and it was very tiring, once we go there the view impacted me, everywhere I looked I saw trees and a beautiful view. There were two options, the easy trail and the difficult trail, my friends and I decided to take the difficult one. We had only been hiking about five minutes and we were already out of breath, once I saw that it was 2.5 miles high I started to have second thoughts, my friends kept me motivated and I made it to the top. It was defiantly worth it the hard work because the view from the top was amazing!
